After twenty years of working as a qualified saddler and with retail outlets, Alan changed tack and moved into another area that complemented his farming background.
Alan and Shona’s decision to form their own Company has extended Alan’s farming horizon to now include the South Island and more recently to Australia. As a large block specialist, Alan’s daily schedule is exciting and challenging.
Being a Real Estate salesperson makes the day’s work unpredictable for anyone, but working with dairy farmers whose livelihood is dependent on politics, the weather and global economy and where nothing is guaranteed, gives Alan a wide spectrum to cover. Fortunately, his ability to relate well to farmers and their needs, ensures a happy outcome in all his transactions.
His original trade as a saddler is appreciated at home where the family prepare horses for the show ring. Alan himself enjoys racing his Saker racing car - a hobby he enjoys when time allows.
